Chiropractic Services Bristol
Before embarking on any programme of treatment it is important for your chiropractor to learn as much as possible about you and your health. Chiropractors are trained to take a comprehensive case history, during which they will ask a number of questions to identify what exactly is wrong. These will be primarily about the reason that's made you seek chiropractic care, but will also explore areas of your general health and lifestyle.
Usually, in order to examine you the chiropractor will ask you to undress to your underwear. Gowns are provided to ensure that your dignity is maintained throughout. Depending on the problem, the chiropractor will perform a range of tests and may examine other areas away from the site of your complaint. He will explain throughout what is happening and why it is necessary to do certain tests.
If x-rays of any other form of imaging is necessary, your chiropractor will explain the reasons why and what the cost implications of further tests will be.
Chiropractic care involves a series of visits, with each one building on the ones before. We have found that one of the best ways to have a successful patient relationship is to explain everything in advance. So, that's what we do. The more you understand who we are, what we do and why we do it, the better results you will achieve. It's as simple as that.
Techniques Used
Sacro-Occipital Technique: is a sophisticated method which looks at both how joints and muscles interact with each other and how they affect posture. Treatment involves working on both the muscles and joints.
Cranial work is also integrated into this approach, using gentle pressure and muscle relaxation techniques.
Myofascial Dry Needling is a medical form of acupuncture and can be used to relieve muscle spasm and pain. For those who do not like the idea of acupuncture Laser Therapy can often be used to achieve the same result.
Ultrasound this is used mainly for the treatment of inflamed ligaments and tendons.
Electrotherapy is used principally to break down chronic muscle tension and can also be used for pain relief.
Exercises will be given to you to do at home at various points during the treatment program.
Also on site is Andrew Fisher, a highly experienced podiatrist, specializing in bio-mechanics of the foot and leg.
